Colossus 2 passes a gigawatt, the first AI training site to do so

Epoch AI estimates the Memphis site at about 1.28 GW of facility power. SpaceX's IPO filing calls Colossus II a "coherent gigawatt-scale AI training cluster".

The filing says Colossus and Colossus II together provide about 1.0 gigawatt of compute power, and that the first cluster of Colossus II came online in 91 days. Epoch AI estimates that Amazon’s New Carlisle, Indiana campus, which trains Anthropic’s models, passed 1 GW of facility power in March 2026, but that estimate rests on construction progress rather than an operator figure, so the Index uses Colossus 2.
