Stargate: $500 billion AI infrastructure venture announced

SoftBank, OpenAI, Oracle and MGX announced a venture to invest up to $500 billion over four years in AI infrastructure for OpenAI, starting with a site in Texas.

The figure is a commitment, not capacity: $100 billion “deployed immediately”, with the balance over four years. SoftBank took financial responsibility and OpenAI operational responsibility. Arm, Microsoft, NVIDIA, Oracle and OpenAI were named as technology partners.

By April 2026 the venture had seven planned U.S. campuses in five states, projected to exceed 9 gigawatts by 2029 (see the international guide).
