More than 1,200 frontier-lab employees ask Washington to help "pace the frontier"
Staff from OpenAI, Anthropic, Google DeepMind and Meta, including Dario Amodei, ask the U.S. to back an international effort to build tools to deliberately slow automated AI development.
The central request: “We request that the U.S. government support an international effort to develop the technical and governance tools” needed “to deliberately pace the frontier of automated AI development”. It had 1,224 signatures at launch. Other signers include OpenAI chief scientist Jakub Pachocki, Meta chief scientist Shengjia Zhao and Google DeepMind’s Anca Dragan. Meta’s Mark Zuckerberg separately criticized “doom” framing in the industry.
